Chapter 6.1.2: Lesson 2. Use the mass media to communicate
with men. , Population Reports, Series J, Number 46
reproductive health, mass media, campaign, television,
radio.
One proven way to reach and inform men is through
the mass media.
Mass media can expose male audiences to messages that can
influence their reproductive health knowledge, attitudes,
and behavior (189, 190, 284).
Radio, television, video, and newspapers all may be used
in strategic ways to give men important information about
reproductive health.
It follows a proven model of behavior change to design the
campaign, pretest messages and materials, monitor progress,
and evaluate results (190).
In Uganda, for example, the Busoga Diocese's Family Life
Education Program reached men with information about reproductive
health through short radio dramas that addressed questions
such as, "What does an STD look like?"

Born in Washington D.C., 1942, Happy began his professional
art career at age 15 as a quick sketch artist on TV, after
reaching the national finals in the Disney Talent Roundup.
In 1972, his full-figured "political portraits"
caught the attention of NPACT/NET television producers who
commissioned Happy to produce portraits for the animation
sequence of the "MacNeil/Lehrer Report" (then
Washington Straight Talk) of Watergate and other political
figures.
In recent years he has become known for his "lawn paintings"
which add a new and unique dimension to landscapes.

After about 30 seconds, Reno's protective cocoon would move
a little farther across the dance floor, stopping again
to allow a new crop of partyers to dance before her and
enjoy the spotlight of a media frenzy.
From his perch above the spectacle, the disc jockey for
the evening, Ani Phearce, gave Reno his stamp of approval.
As much as the leaders of the Democratic Party have been
hoping Reno would just go away, Friday's event had to be
infuriating for them.
While that was a good message for the cameras, let's be
clear: This was not a typical SoBe crowd.
Semiotics for Beginners: Rhetorical Tropes
metaphors, signify, tropes, language, metonymy.
It reflects a radical challenge to the language
of objectivism which derives from the seventeenth century
quest to establish a 'scientific' use of language.
Occasionally in everyday life our attention is drawn to
an unusual metaphor - such as the critical quip that someone
is 'one voucher short of a pop-up toaster'.
This is consistent with the Whorfian perspective that different
languages impose different systems of spatial and temporal
relations on experience through their figures of speech
(Whorf 1956).
Whilst metaphor is based on apparent unrelatedness, metonymy
is a function which involves using one signified to stand
for another signified which is directly related to it or
closely associated with it in some way.

Now, here are a few words of additional, unofficial advice

Dr. Henry Lieberman will be accepting students for September

Software Agents is an interdisciplinary topic, and we are
not limiting our admissions to straight-A computer scientists.
You probably do need to have good programming skills by
the time you embark seriously on a project.
If your background doesn't demonstrate good programming
skills, you should be prepared to work very hard to acquire
them rapidly.

Strips tended to last 10 or 15 minutes with the
girl doing first a topless and then a full strip.
Strip in pubs had I understand grown out of "go go"
dancing in the 1960s which the aged amongst you may recall
involved girls in bikinis throwing their heads back and
forwards in time to popular music.
The other difference a time traveller from the current Hackney
Rd scene would spot would be that the pubs were very busy
at lunchtime but less busy in the evenings.
The sort of acts the girls performed tended to be longer
{a lot of pubs insisted on more than 1 record} than currently
and gaps between shows were also much longer.

Last year, HotJobs.com embarked on a campaign
to increase Web site awareness among Seattle job seekers.
Curious ferry passengers followed the general direction
of the underfoot drawings to find themselves walking by
the Web site evangelists to hear the melodramatic pitch.
Between office building elevator ads, human billboards and
branded bookmarks placed in local bookstores, HotJobs garnered
much needed attention in its hometown of Seattle, thanks
in part to digital marketing agency Eisnor Interactive.
Swivel Media founder and chief promotional guru Erik Hauser,
who shared in the execution of the HotJobs.com campaign,
has done similar unconventional promotions including "dance

Yes, opines Dinesh Bhat, a Business Research Manager at
Hindustan Lever Limited, and Member of the MRUC Technical
Committee, on basis of his analysis conducted by using the
data collected by MRUC, and presented under its IMMS.
The study also throws light on where one can find the youth,
and how to use conventional and non-conventional media to
best address them to advance one's brand equity.
Significantly, this segment is more literate relative to
the rest of the population (82.2 per cent against 49.4 per
cent for the rest of the population) and therefore more
discerning, with a higher level of comprehension of communication
and therefore capable of playing a larger role in brand
choice.

ATM, ATM advertising, campaign, dot-coms, marketing.
Internet companies are looking beyond the traditional
newspaper, television and radio to more unconventional media

While entrenched advertisers like Coca-Cola and General
Motors seem a little leery, dot-coms are as bullish on new
forms of advertising as investors are on IPOs.
Secora, a St. Louis-based media company, helped half.com
design and place its ATM campaign, which began in mid-March
and is still running in select cities.
Mark Hughes, half.com's marketing guru (yes, that's his
actual title), thinks the ATM is an effective way for dot-coms
to "rise above the clutter."
Hughes believes that ATM advertising -- or any type of guerrilla
marketing -- works best for businesses with a unique product
set.

Tips for Working with the Media
http://www.aphanet.org/selfcare/mediatips.html
PSA, news, media, editor, community.
One of the best vehicles for reaching consumers
is the media.
Whether it is a letter to the editor of your newspaper or
a story on the local news, media in your hometown can help
trigger significant interest in this important public education
campaign.
You'll see specific areas on the attached template where
you may want to include specific information about Partnership
activities in your community, how customers can get more
information, etc.
PSAs are not hard-sell commercials or advertisements, which
seek to sell specific products.
In fact, radio stations or newspapers will run/print a PSA
at no charge because they provide mutual benefits to the
station/newspaper, audience and the sponsor.

ganguro, trend, girls, media, Japanese.
Abstract: This paper claims that Japanese media
have managed to effectively disseminate, and to shape the
further development of a new style trend called ganguro.
The ganguro trend among high school girls has had a significant
and growing influence on everyday life in Japanese society.
The powerful influence of media over everyday life patterns
is demonstrated by the growing popularity of the trend despite
its variance from traditional norms and images of Japanese
women.
The Para Para dance has an important meaning for them because
it positively promotes the integration of ganguro girls
into a kind of community.
The print media interacts strongly with the trend and not
only stimulates its development, but also is intrinsic to
it.
